Marguo is pleased to announce (Nice Dream), Alexandre Yang's first solo exhibition in Paris, opening autumn 2026. Taking its title from the 1990s song by British rock band Radiohead, the exhibition explores similar themes: a protagonist's fantasy unfolds in which they dream themselves at the centre of their loved ones' lives — cherished and adored — yet remain, in reality, isolated in a reverie from which they never wake.
A master of the art of auto-fiction, Alexandre Yang stages personal history and its intimate dramas in a meticulous paintings with medievalizing settings, interwoven with numerous references to the role-playing games, video games and television series of which the artist is a devotee. In contrast with the faithful rendering of details and textures, landscapes and architectures with truncated, non-realistic perspectives are populated by odd figures of strange proportions, more vulnerable than heroic — so many avatars of the artist and those close to him.
