Inspired by a story the artist's mother told him — as a little girl she played in a cabin in the jungle while her country was at war. Yang reimagines...Inspired by a story the artist's mother told him — as a little girl she played in a cabin in the jungle while her country was at war. Yang reimagines it in present-day France: an evening spent playing Dungeons & Dragons and pretending to be soldiers. Like auto-fiction, role-play becomes a way to project oneself into a character built from scratch. It marks the starting point of the fiction that runs through the surrounding paintings.
