Zhang Yunyao Participates in His First European Museum Exhibition at Musée Fenaille in collaboration with Musée du Louvre

From 12 June to 17 October 2021, Musée Fenaille in Rodez, France presents an exceptional exhibition IDOLES. L’art des Cyclades et de l’Anatolie à l’Âge de bronze (IDOLS: The Art of the Cyclades and Anatolia in the Bronze Age), organized in collaboration with Musée du Louvre, to bring together for the first time a unique collection of sculptures from the Cyclades and Anatolia.

Galerie Marguo artist ZHANG Yunyao (b. 1985, China) has been invited to participate in this unique exhibition to represent the painting practice of our contemporary time. For his first institutional exhibition in Europe, Zhang created a new series of works Study in Two Heads (Inceptions) that are inspired by both the Cycladic idol head and the 20th-century modern masters that were also influenced by it.

Following the studio visit with the artist in preparation of the exhibition, at the opening of IDOLS: The Art of the Cyclades and Anatolia in the Bronze Age at Musée Fenaille, Zhang Yunyao walked through the exhibition in the company of Ludovic Laugier and Vincent Blanchard, curators of Musée du Louvre. From prehistoric idols through sculptures by modern masters to his own contemporary practice, the artist invites the viewers to join his journey through time in our latest film.
