In collaboration with Louis Vuitton for the opening of their new cultural landmark The Louis in Shanghai, Ziping Wang was specially commissioned to create a series of watercolor works for the debut of Le Café Louis Vuitton inside of The Louis.
Infused with both spontaneity and delicacy, the paintings feature fine lines and layered textures formed through the natural interplay of pigment and water, evoking an organic sense of growth and quiet transformation. ‘Breeze through mountain rock’ imagines a micro-ecosystem where wind flows over moss and vegetation, and vines snake through the crevices of stacked stone. ‘Echo under the Sea’ recalls a snorkeling experience in the South China Sea, where dappled light filtered through the water to illuminate swaying beds of seagrass.
