Marking our fourth consecutive year participating in Kiaf SEOUL, Marguo presents a duo booth bringing together two artists whose practices share a quiet attentiveness to the natural world — Ziping Wang and Claudia Keep

Ziping Wang presents a new series of watercolours developed during her summer residency at Casa Marguo in Menorca. Deepening a body of work first shown at Château La Coste, her paintings invite the unpredictable interplay of water, pigment, and paper, letting the medium find its own momentum. Responding to the island's coastal light, wild vegetation, and shifting atmosphere, the works carry her visual language into new and more fluid territory.

Claudia Keep presents a selection of works from her latest series depicting insect life. Conceived as records of an ever-changing world, these larger-than-life paintings of bees, butterflies, and insects are imbued with an acute awareness of the fragile timelines facing many species today. Rendered in an inexact hand, they seek not the penetrating eye of science but something closer to witnessing — capturing the luminous beauty of the present while pointing toward deeper ecological questions.

Together, the two artists offer complementary meditations on perception and impermanence — one translating the sensory rhythms of a landscape into pigment and light, the other recording the overlooked lives of the natural world.

    About the Artist

Ziping Wang (b. 1995, Shenyang) holds an MFA from the Pratt Institute, New York, and a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Drawing on the visual languages of advertising and illustration, Ziping Wang’s paintings are inspired by the overwhelming experience of living within an attention economy in the digital era. Visually seductive food packaging often serves as the starting point for Wang’s colorful configurations that combine a wide array of references and styles, ranging from cartoonish renderings of food, traditional Chinese and Japanese decorative motifs, Old Master still lifes, geometrically patterned forms, and amorphous blobs of varying opacity. Wang’s paintings offer the mirage of a narrative and space in which dissociative fragments cohere, yet resist any further extraction of meaning. Paintings as decoys, that talk about something without talking about it, or by talking about something else.

Recent solo and group exhibitions include ‘Chromatic Crumble!’, Château La Coste (Aix-en-Provence, 2025); 'small talk', Unit London (London, 2024), 'Boundless Reverie: Chinese Savoir Faire and Contemporary', K11 MUSEA (Hong Kong, 2024), 'Traces of Love and Timeless Adventure', Galerie Marguo at K11 MUSEA (Hong Kong, 2023), 'The Loudest Silence', Peres Project (Seoul, 2022); 'Obsession, Indifference and Onion Skin', Galerie Marguo (Paris, 2021). Wang was the recipient of the First Place prize of the 12th Annual Juried Exhibition at Archway Gallery (Houston, 2020). She recently created 'Sweet tooth' handbag, one of the five artistic collaborations in the 5th edition of the Artycapucines Collection by Louis Vuitton.

    About the Artist

Claudia Keep (b. 1993) captures the fleeting beauty of everyday life through small-scale paintings rendered in soft lines and luminous tones. Drawing from life and personal photographs, she distills quiet moments—a patch of light in a room, the shadow of a roadside object, dewdrops in a spiderweb—inviting a slower, more attentive gaze. Her work finds reverence in the overlooked, revealing the poetic in the mundane.

Born in Low Moor, Virginia, Keep lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She received her BFA from Bryn Mawr College. Recent solo exhibitions include ‘New York’, MARCH, New York (2025); ‘Shimmering Waves’, LMDS, Shanghai (2024); ‘Somehow, Somewhere, Someway’, Marguo, Paris (2024); ‘In Bed’, 12.26, Dallas (2024); and ‘Almanac’, Parker Gallery, Los Angeles (2023). Group exhibitions include ‘Une Chambre à Soi’, Château La Coste, France (2024); ‘Southern Democratic’, The Carnegie, Covington (2024); and ‘When the Sun Loses Its Light’, Blum & Poe, Los Angeles (2022). Her work has appeared in The Paris Review, Plant Magazine, and Harper’s Magazine.
