Casa Marguo is delighted to welcome Dennis Miranda Zamorano as our first artist in residence in May 2024.
Zamorano investigates a multitude of material and conceptual approaches towards unexpected depictions of the human form and reflections on the human condition. A self-taught artist, the themes, subjects, and compositions of Zamorano’s work find their origins in the Mexican tradition El Tianguis, an open-air market business that has long been the alternative for the survival of countless Mexican entrepreneurs. He has been exhibited internationally, including his first European solo exhibition, Falling Upwards, which opened in Paris last December.
For his residency project at Casa Marguo, Zamorano will embark on an introspective journey. Reflecting on his previous series, which seamlessly blends figurative and abstract elements, Zamorano plans to retreat into the essence of his artistic expression. Drawing inspiration from Menorca’s serene landscapes and vivid natural lighting, the unique residency project will see Zamorano deepening his exploration of abstraction in larger format works.
