Artist-in-Residence: Ziping Wang

Taking a break from the kaleidoscopic pace of city life, Casa Marguo is pleased to welcome Ziping Wang our as artist-in-residence for the 2026 summer season.

Drawing on the visual languages of advertising and illustration, Wang’s paintings explore the overwhelming experience of living within an attention economy shaped by digital culture. Visually seductive food packaging often serves as the starting point for her densely layered compositions, which bring together references ranging from cartoon imagery and traditional decorative motifs to Old Master still lifes and graphic abstraction.

For her residency at Casa Marguo, Ziping will shift away from the densely constructed surfaces of her paintings to focus on a new continuation of her watercolour series first presented at Château La Coste last year. Developed through a more instinctive process, the works embrace the unpredictable interaction between water, pigment, and paper. In response to Menorca’s vegetation, coastal landscapes, and natural atmosphere, the residency will allow Wang to further explore this more immediate and intuitive visual language informed by her surroundings on the island.
