Marguo is pleased to present Still Alive, a group exhibition that reimagines the still life as a living, emotionally charged form—no longer fixed or decorative, but porous, speculative, and shaped by memory, perception, and cultural hybridity.
Curated by Vanessa Guo, Jason Hwang, and Romain Chenais, the exhibition is anchored by historical still life from Zao Wou-Ki bridging together a new generation of artists of Asian and Asian diaspora heritage—Shuyi Cao, Chen Fei, He Xiangyu, Sean Shim-Boyle, Woo Hannah, Ziping Wang, and Alexandre Yang—whose practices expand and transform the genre across mediums and sensibilities. In a moment of global uncertainty, Still Alive explores stillness not as stasis, but as presence: a space where transformation, tenderness, and material imagination quietly unfold.
